Forge Motorsports Blow Off Valve/Recirc Valve - July 2001.

I finally got my Forge Recirc BOV (aka recirc vavle) installed, and have had some time to drive it, under boost conditions ranging from 4psi to 12psi. Here are my thoughts...

I was previously using a $40 Bosche BOV and it was leaking at low boost. The old Bosche valve was actually weak enough to depress with my little finger! The new Forge recirc valve is really tight - it holds boost well, and sounds nice with a Pssshhhh and then a whistle. None of that fluttering or brapping noise some poorly adjusted valves make. Boost picks up faster now, and by 2,800 rpm I am making more horsepower on the dyno than a non-turbo Impreza RS makes at its peak!

This is a high quality billet aluminum body and valve. They also make a less expensive version with a hard ABS plastic valve. Mine had the wrong pipe size, so I made a hybrid with the backside of the less expensive one that JC Sports loaned me till the proper size shows up soon. Nice deal since they didn't even sell me the BOV! Forge soon sent me the correct sized valve which I am now running on the car. Pete at Stratmosphere.com and Forge MotorSports was extremely helpful and very prompt in shipping this unit out. I highly recommend them!

It came with a stiff "red" spring for high boost, and I am using the medium blue spring right now. There is even a green soft spring for low boost applications, like the 5 psi JCS IHI legacy turbo kits. This valve that I am running is a direct replacement for the Bosche, and they also make them in an assortment of in/out pipe sizes and even bolt on flanges for the WRX. On the dyno I had no problems with it leaking at 12 psi, even though I am running the medium spring, not the stiffest one.
